Forced marriage suicide Morocco protestThis in the link for yahoo australia:
So, from the news mentioned that a 16-y-o girl in Morocco named Amina Filali was raped in the forest by man with a knife.
But, here is a bizzare part of the law:
"In cases of rape, the burden of proof is often on the victim and if she can't prove she was attacked, a woman risks being prosecuted for debauchery."
I don't know what exactly happen, but then Amina was married with her rapist by her mom (Geez! I can't imagine!!). As far as i catched, there are issues about economy and girl's future if Amina can't find a man who want to marry her.
So, Amina married her rapist. And then thing absolutely went wrong and wrong.
How can a woman marry a man who clearly intentionally ruin her life?
What a moron!
Amina's life was being worst because her husband which is her rapist and her mother in laws attacked her oftentimes.
"According to the mother, the forced marriage did not go well, as neither the groom nor his family, also quite poor, welcomed the new addition.
Amina lived with her unemployed husband in a small shack next to his family's home and was reportedly beaten regularly by him and his mother."
Amina scared to the death because of her condition and decided to do suicide.
And this Amina case was resulting some outrageous responses, wanted to revise the law.
“But her death has called attention to - and prompted outrage over - an article in the penal code absolving the perpetrator of the rape of a minor if he marries the victim. Activists and social workers are calling for its repeal.
On Saturday in front of parliament in the capital Rabat, some 300 people waved signs and chanted slogans calling for a revised penal code that specifically outlaws violence against women.”
I wish there will be a justice for Morocco women.
